since the day i installed windows vista on my pc i have been having difficulty in connecting to company servers using openvpn

the problem is that vista has enhanced it’s security so that the old openvpn has compatibility issues with it.

have googled for and tried out all the solutions and finally found one! Thanks to KIV (http://konstantin.vassilev.name/?p=79)

Here are the general steps:

1. Download the latest openvpn gui application (openvpn-2.0.9-gui-1.0.3-install.exe) from http://openvpn.se/download.html. This version has solved the TAP-Win32 driver problem.
2. Add to your .ovpn file (C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config\*.ovpn) the following two lines:
   route-method exe
   route-delay 2
3. Don’t allow your openvpn automatically start when windows starts. Start openvpn by running C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\bin\openvpn-gui.exe as Administrator. (Right click on openvpn-gui.exe and choose “Run as administrator”)
4. It should be connected.

phewwwwwww… finally be able to work from home liao~ well… when it’s necessary (hopefully not )…

Sony Ericsson has released its new PDA phone P990i.

Compared to my P910i, it has some improvement / changes:

• New support to Wi-Fi
• New support to 3G
• Update Symbian OS from 7.0 to 9.1
• Increase build in 64M to 80M
• Screen size looks smaller (not sure) because of movement of the QWERTY keyboard from the flip pannel to the area below the screen
• Provide 2-megapixel camera

2年前买的DVD Writer最近突然有了一些问题。以前刻录一张4.5G的数据DVD盘大概需要15分钟（4X速），由于光驱的缓存比较大，有8M，加上电脑好歹也是P4 1.7的CPU + 1G的内存，在刻录的同时可以在电脑上干其它事情，像浏览网页，听音乐，看电影，刻录丝毫不受影响。大约在一两个礼拜前，突然发现DVD Writer的刻录速度狂降了一半，刻录一张DVD需要30分钟。在刻录的时候，刻录机的缓冲区/状态一项也经常下降到0（正常一般在90以上）。在看看刻录机上的红灯，不再像以前一样长亮不熄，而是断断续续的亮。像这样刻盘的时间长了倒还可以忍受，更要命的是现在一旦在刻盘，系统就变得慢的不得了，连正常的打开一个窗口或拖动一个窗口都有好几秒的延迟，更别提看电影了。这样一来，刻一张DVD需要半个小时而且其间在电脑上什么也不能干，让我觉得无法忍受。 Continue reading »
