the X factor –=Every Little Thing =–

this is the 2nd time i switched my photo album liao… last time from Gallery 2 to flickr, now from flickr to webshots…

flickr is good… interface, features… whatever…

just very buay song about one thing for flickr… they only allow 3 sets (albums or folders) for each free account. you want to create more to organize ur album nice-nicely? fine, u need to pay fucking US$24+ a year to get that (ya of course, u will get unlimited storage, unlmited bandwith blar blar at the same time, but but, i dun need it sia). for THIS very reason i feel flickr is bloody so selfish and dun-care-about-users (not just un-userfriendly man…)

eventually i decided to move to webshots (wakakakakak, CNET brand sia )

webshots is GOOOOOD!!

whatever flickr has… webshots has too! well… some that flickr doesn’t have… webshots has also!

muhahaha~ now put my webshots latest photos slideshow on the top of my blog entry list…

like it soooo much… well… althought it’s not perfect… still has some problem to set the parameters for the flash slideshow object, like auto start, auto loop…

thinking of writing an wordpress plugin for webshots… to rotate the latest photos in the side bar… something similar to the flickr plugin im using now… but in order to do that i think need to request some API doc from webshots team… ahahahha, later see how! now lazy~~

BTW… new header image and color theme for my wordpress blog! narrrrrr…time to get rid of gray!

here are few updates i have done to my wordpress blog… in these few days…

1. Tried to upgrade my wordpress blog to V 2.1 Ella. But it seems that the 2.1 has some problems with my blog, mainly the display issues. Probably it’s caused by the blogpost content parser. So no choice, had to roll back to the older version. The process was a bit messy n painful. Had to overwrite the files to older version and restore the DB…well…
2. Changed the theme a little bit… mainly the header image and some css style
3. Switched my photo gallery to flickr. A bit sian with my old Gallery 2 gallery liao… and the flickr really provides a super niceeeee space to share photos
4. Installed in a flickr plugin AnotherFlickr for my wordpress blog. It calls the flickr API to get photos from my flickr account and displays random thumbnails in the sidebar of my blog. Try it on my sidebar! ==>
5. Installed another Awstats plugin, which reads the awstats logs in the server and presents some stats (such as the referrers, number of page views and number of visits etc…) in the wordpress blog
6. Installed Audio Player Wordpress plugin to embed a flash audio player in my blogpost. Can try HERE
7. Installed an interesting widget called meebo (sounds like the Mee Pok sia ). It’s some kind of web-based IM. With it ppl can send me online / offline messages. I will see those messages once i login to their site. And i can even chat with you guys through that if im sign in it. You can get a copy for your own blog HERE

wahhh… quite a number of stuffs sia! kind of free these few days, hehehehehehe

was so bo liao sitting in the office this afternoon. so took the opportunity to give my blog a new skin for the coming new year

Juz upgraded my WordPress blog to be 2.0, which was released yesterday, the boxing day.

Just spend some time to write a plugin to pull out the thumbnails of the latest 30 photos in my gallery and play them in a slideshow using javascript.

Actually there is some “Official” plugin to link Wordpress and Gallery2. However it is just not working for me… Feeling it’s too complicated also, I just wrote one for myself.

Just now found a plugin in the WordPress support forum - Threaded Comments Plugin

This plugin enable threaded comments for WrodPress, i.e. user could reply to others’ comments rather than to the main post only as what is in the origianl WordPress 1.5 .2 release.

This plugin is quite useful ya!
